KiwiRail has gone live with Traceable.
KiwiRail operates the Interislander service, which is an essential service during lockdown Level 4. They wanted a solution that would allow them to track their staff and any visitors on their ferry crossings. Previous to lockdown they were handling about 4000 ferry crossings a day. They are taking every precaution to ensure that they are able to notify staff and their frontline workers should they have been in contact with either a confirmed or possible case of Covid-19.
Traceable allows them to easily check staff in by using AI technology to scan ID's or drivers licenses. This reduces the time to capture essential information, making it easier for them to get on with their very important work of keeping all of our essential goods crossing the Cook Strait.
How it works
KiwiRail uses a version of Traceable on their company devices, they check in staff and visitors using ID scanning technology.
This information is then stored and searchable.
If anyone should be found to contract Covid-19, all of the people who've been in close proximity are then notified immediately.
This ensures that only the people within close proximity are notified, it allows the rest of the crews to keep working, reducing the risk of a full shut down and the implications that would have on essential goods and services.
Fast and Effective
KiwiRail needed something fast and effective. We work very hard at Webtools Health to ensure that we have some ready to go pieces of tech that allow us to configure robust solutions in relatively short turn around times. We were able to use our Centrik platform in this case and get something produced for KiwiRail within 2 weeks.
