No. Traceable has been built by Webtools Health Ltd and is provided as a commercial tool to NZ businesses to help ensure both the safety of their staff, visitors and customers and to ensure they are allowed to operate safely during the COVID-19 pandemic. We will continue to help our clients stay compliant with the NZ Govt. guidelines and if data is required to assist with Contact Tracing efforts then we will work with both our clients and the authorities to securely export and transfer required records.
Traceable was used to capture my data - can I delete my data?
Yes of course. All data gets deleted from the system automatically after 60 days. If you need wish it to be deleted before then, please contact the business that collected the data. It can be deleted from Traceable but under the current Government requirements, they will have to store a record of your visit to their location somewhere.
How long do you keep my data?
If you are a visitor or customer of a business, then your data will be kept for 60 days and then deleted automatically. If records are required to be submitted to the Ministry of Health then they may retain those records for a longer period of time.
Why does my business need Traceable?
The New Zealand Government requires all business to keep a record of their staff and visitors. This record must include name, email and phone number and time of check in and check out. Traceable makes the process of capturing this data quicker, safer and more secure than traditional methods like pen and paper.
02. Security & Privacy
Do I have to show Photo ID? What happens to this image of my ID?
Traceable does not require photo ID. Scanning photo ID cards is a easier way to enter some of the data required such as your name. The place of business using Traceable Pro may require ID to confirm your details, but Traceable Pro does not require this. If your ID is scanned only the characters that are recognised from your ID are stored for contact tracing purposes and only for 60 days. Photos of your ID are not stored anywhere.
What happens to my information when it's scanned?
The Ministry of Health has required that people can be contacted if there is a case of Covid-19 where you have been. Only your name, contact details, where you were and the time you were there need to be stored. No other personal information is held. Data is stored for 60 days, as per Ministry of Health guidelines and then deleted automatically. It can only be accessed for the purposes of contact tracing.
Is my data shared with third parties?
Data is only accessible by the organisation that captured it and then with any Public Health or Contact Tracing teams from DHBs or Ministry of Health when required. Anonymised data is used within the software with error logging and analytics software services.
Does the Ministry of Health have access to my data?
Currently the Ministry of Health or the NZ government does not have direct access to the data. Ministry of Health contact tracing team will contact the business in the event of a positive or suspected COVID-19 case, and ask for the records. The business is responsible for securely exporting only the relevant records that are required and sharing with the Ministry.
Privacy and contact tracing seems counter intuitive, how does Traceable help ensure my privacy is respected?
We are not tracking any movements or capturing GPS locations. Traceable is a completely voluntary service, which allows you control over your data. It is a contactless system that will make it easy to know who was in close proximity to you at a specific location in public spaces, such as restaurants, shops, libraries etc. This allows the place of business to be compliant as well as provides you peace of mind that you will be notified, should anyone you've unknowingly been in contact with be tested positive for Covid-19.
Why don't you use bluetooth technology?
Bluetooth technology requires that all phones have this function and that all phones in the area have this functionality turned on. Requiring Bluetooth also presents a hardware limiting factor, and our guiding principles are that we want all kiwis to be able to support the contact tracing efforts of the Ministry of Health. We also want kiwis to be comfortable with the way their data is captured and utilised.
Where is my data stored?
The Traceable database is stored in the cloud on the Amazon Web Service data centre in Sydney. This data centre complies with NZ Government policies regarding the use of public cloud services.
